SEMIVOLATILE INJECTION PORT PRIMING MIX

Includes detailed instructions.

This concentrated mixture of highly active semivolatile organic compounds is used in conjunction with EPA Methods 625 and 8270. Inject a few microliters into your injection port before running an analytical standard to improve over-all system responses.

ECS is currently the only company to offer this product.

Technical Note: What is the purpose of "priming" the injection port?

The purpose of priming the injection port is to deactivate the system. After the injection port has been disassembled for the replacement of the liner or other maintenance, the potential for the presence of active sites exists. The introduction of large amounts of active compounds will react with and neutralize these active sites. We recommend that you prime the injection port whenever it has been disassembled. Additionally, running a batch of "dirty" extracts can create active sites. Many labs run under the 12 hour DFTPP clock and thus run a second batch unattended overnight. By running the Injection Port Priming Mix prior to DFTPP, meeting the % RSD and minimum RF QC requirements can be enhanced when this check standard is run.

This solution can be used after the injection port has been disassembled (for replacement of liner, inlet disk or other maintenance), or it can be used in the middle of a batch to neutralize active sites created by the injection of contaminated extracts.

Technical Note:

Under certain state regulations, some labs are required to run the 4 components listed above as part of Method 625/8270 to evaluate for DFTPP and tailing factors. The problem is that the analytes will break down after about 40 days when mixed together. The solution is to create a kit with all 4 components packaged separately.Then, once a month you dilute all 4 components together (typically 50 to 100 uL into 1 mL) in Methylene Chloride and you have a fresh tuning mixture.
